Uncle’s ring is a story about author’s uncle Abdurahman Filipović Braco – a doctor from Bosnia’s town Kalinovik, who was executed and went missing during Bosnia’s war in the 1990’s. The personal story is intertwined with the current social phenomena in post war Bosnia and Herzegovina – glorification of war criminals, denial of war crimes, impunity, the search for the missing persons, and the impossibility of reconciliation. In the film, the author undertakes a journey to find the truth about her uncle’s life and execution. She meets his relatives and friends, war survivors, convicted war criminals and former war officials to understand how and why he was killed and to find out where his remains are hidden.
