SOLO Is Pitching At The Sunny Side of the Doc

“Solo”, project presented at AJD’s Main Pitch last year now got selected for Sunny Side of the Doc New voices pitching category.

Project “Solo” by Amine Boukhris (Tunisia), was presented at the Main Pitch at the Second Al Jazeera Industry Days and won Sunny Side of the Doc Prize containing of two free market passes for SSD 2024.

Now, Sunny Side of the Doc has unveiled the selection for its 35th edition, running June 24-27 in La Rochelle, France, it was released that Solo by Amine Boukhris was chosen to be presented in the “New voices” pitching category.

It tells the story of Akmal, a young 24-year-old rapper, who lives today for one simple reason: the hope of seeing his mother again. The mother who, ten years ago, made a terrible choice: to blindly follow her husband to join the Daesh terrorist militia.

Furthermore, "Bitter Sugar" by Ana Barjadze from Georgia has also won two free market passes for Sunny Side of the Doc 2024 + €500 grant at the second edition of the AJD Industry Days that was held along the 6th AJB DOC Film Festival.
