AJB Award for Sonic Silence

Long-standing excellent cooperation with ZagrebDox continues.

AJB Award for Sonic Silence

The Al Jazeera Balkans award for a project in development was presented at ZagrebDox Pro, the industry program of the ZagrebDox documentary film festival, held from March 30 to April 6 in Zagreb.

The award was given to the project "Sonic Silence" by the Italian duo Ludovico Chincarini and Alessandro Ambroggi.

Sead Kreševljaković, representative of Al Jazeera Balkans, commissioning producer, and programmer at the AJB DOC Film Festival, participated in the ZagrebDox Pro program and presented the award to the authors.

Over five days, mentors Nebojša Slijepčević, Ana Fernandez Saiz, Tue Steen Muller, and Ieva Ubele worked with eight presented projects, and awards were given to the most successful ones upon completion.

About the project

SONIC SILENCE, by Ludovico Chincarini and Alessandro Ambroggi (Italy),

Thirty years after the Dayton Agreement, the “Sonic Silence” can still be heard. That whistle and unsettling silence inducing alienation and fear, preceding and following an explosion. Jasmin, former captain of the Bosnian forces, still searches for his brother’s body; Tarik, a young Bosnian, remains tenaciously in the land he loves and hates; Khalida, fleeing Afghanistan through the Balkans, seeks for a better future. Their souls marked with the scars of the war let us listen to the silence, the Sonic Silence.
